2 Weeks until we open!

Spring colors, tank tops, and sandals!! That's what's in the shop at SmartyPants~Teen Resale!

As you shovel a foot of fresh snow here in NW Indiana, we are pricing fresh spring fashion as fast as we can at the new shop!

The shop is such a mess right now that I refuse to post a picture, sorry! If you saw it right now, you would never believe that we will open February 15th! The deal is, I can't wait to see you all and do what I love best, so trust me when I tell you...THE SHOP WILL OPEN FEB. 15TH!

I've had some free time recently to reflect on what I love the most about SmartyPants. Creating displays is fun, I love interacting with the teenagers, and overall I think I have the best job on the planet.

But, here is what I love the most about my shop: during this time of financial uncertainty, what we do at SmartyPants is, we put money right back into our community in addition to offering an affordable shopping experience. What we don't do, is send money to other countries to buy their products. Our suppliers are local people! The money they make consigning goes right back into our community to purchase things like gas and groceries. I love that! It feels amazing to be somehow giving back!

Teenagers have so many pressures. At $3 a gallon for gas, my own teen struggles to make ends meet. She gets thru the b-ball season by cleaning out her closet. There are perfectly wonderful items in there, that she has worn a few times, but just isn't wearing anymore. She brings them to SP, and earns enough money to fill her gas tank. It's a beautiful thing!

In addition to making money by cleaning her closet (which keeps mama happy!) she is staying fashionable by shopping at SP as well! Her jeans: Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, American Eagle, Silver, BKe, and Seven were all purchased at SP at nearly %70 off retail prices.

Comments from her friends in high school include, "don't tell me you got that at your mom's store?!" Fortunately she isn't shy about shopping resale, and happily tells all her friends how cool SP is! Word is spreading...I can't wait to open the new shop!

Stay tuned for more updates, next time I will post a few pictures of the GREAT clothes we've already received on consignment...it's bound to wet your appetite for spring fashion.

You're down to the count now, Cathy. I can't wait to see photos of the new everything AND your logo. This is going to be great for both you and your girls. And, if there's anything this person in California can do, you've got my email. :)

Oh, BFF, it looks SO great, just like you imagined. Bless Big Ted's heart for helping you. Wish we could be there Friday and before, to help. Maybe one day we can come hang out in your dressing rooms!
